How to Setup a New Email Account (It's Free)

An email account can help you find a job. A lot of jobs are posted on the Internet, and they use email to get intouch with you. Setting up an email account is easy, and can be used from any computer with internet access. This short video will walk you through the steps, but you can also follow along with the instructions below:

1. Start by typing "mail.yahoo.com" into your address bar.

2. You'll see a button in the upper right-hand corner that says, "Sign up for Yahoo!" Click the button to create a new account.

3. Fill out the information it asks for.

4. You will be asked to choose a yahoo ID, Be sure to write down your Yahoo ID and Email address! You will need it to be able to sign into your account and check your mail.

Note: Try to use a professional sounding email address! People who use professional sounding email addresses are more likely to get a job than those who don't. A professional email address is generally some kind of combination of your first and last name, such as mikel @email.com or jsmith23 @email.com. Here are some examples of what NOT to use.

bigdaddy21 @yahoo.com

5. After choosing your ID, click the "check" button to verify that it's not already in use, then enter, and re-enter a password that you can remember.

6. In case you forget your password, Yahoo lets you choose an alternate email (not required) and a couple of security questions that can be used to unlock your account. Be sure to choose questions and answers that you will remember.

7. To make sure you're a real person, yahoo displays a picture of a code for verification, enter the letters and numbers as you see them in the code.

8. Last, be sure to click the checkbox at the bottom, verifying that you've read the terms and conditions, then click Create My Account.
